Recurly
Recurly holds the full billing relationship behind every subscriber — plans, renewals, invoices, and payment history. By connecting it to Justt, we automatically pull that context and use it as evidence, which is especially powerful for recurring-billing disputes like "unrecognized" or "subscription canceled."
What Justt pulls from Recurly
| Data | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Subscription history | Plan, status, and billing-period dates for each subscriber. |
| Invoices & billing | Invoice records, charges, taxes, and payment method. |
| Customer account | Account details and tenure that strengthen each dispute. |
The process at a glance
Three steps, about 5 minutes:
- Create an API key — Generate a private API key in your Recurly account.
- Enter it in Justt — Paste the key into the Connect Recurly screen in the Justt Hub.
- Justt connects — We validate the key and start enriching your disputes.
Before you beginYou'll need a Recurly user with the Integration permission — that's what allows you to view and create API credentials. If you don't have it, ask whoever administers your Recurly account to complete Step 1.
Step 1 — Create an API key in Recurly
Do this in your Recurly account. Justt needs one value: a private API key. We recommend creating a brand-new, dedicated key for Justt rather than reusing an existing one.
- Sign in with Integration permission. Log in to Recurly as a user whose role includes the Integration permission — that's what lets you view and manage API credentials.
- Open API Credentials. In the Recurly admin, go to Integrations → API Credentials. (Exact labels can vary slightly by Recurly account — look for the API Credentials page under Integrations.)
- Add a private API key. Scroll to the bottom and select Add Private API Key. Give it a clear name (e.g.
Justt) so it's easy to identify later, then save. - Copy the key. Copy the private API key and keep it somewhere secure (a password manager is ideal). You'll paste it into Justt in Step 2.
Treat the API key like a passwordA Recurly API key grants access to your account — the permission you set controls what it can do. Don't share it over email or chat, and only enter it into the trusted Justt Hub screen in Step 2.
Step 2 — Enter your API key in Justt
Now switch to the Justt Hub at app.justt.ai and connect Recurly using the key you just created.
-
Open the Recurly connection screen. In the Justt Hub, go to Connect an integration and select Recurly. The "Connect with Recurly" window will open with a single field.
-
Paste your API key into the matching Justt field:
Justt Hub field What to paste (from Recurly) API Key Your Recurly private API key — the key you created in Step 1 The API Key field is masked as you type, like a password. Tip: if you see a "How to get the required fields?" link on that screen, it points right back to this guide.
-
Save and submit. Submit the form. Justt securely stores your key and immediately tests the connection to Recurly.
Step 3 — What happens next
Once the connection is validated, Justt starts working automatically — no further action needed from you.
| Evidence enrichment | For each relevant dispute, Justt looks up the customer in Recurly and pulls their subscription, invoice, and account history. |
| Recurring-billing context | Plan details, renewal dates, and payment history are added to your evidence — ideal for "unrecognized" and subscription-related disputes. |
| Stronger responses | That billing evidence is built into the dispute responses Justt submits on your behalf, improving win rates. |
That's it — you're connectedThere's nothing further to configure. Recurly evidence will start flowing into your disputes automatically. If you ever need to disconnect, just delete or disable the API key in your Recurly account.
Troubleshooting
A few quick checks resolve almost every connection issue.
Connection fails or shows "unauthorized"
This usually means the API key was mistyped or partially copied. Re-copy the full key from Recurly (Integrations → API Credentials) and paste it again, with no extra spaces. If you recently deleted or rotated the key in Recurly, create a new one and re-enter it.
You can't find or create API credentials in Recurly
Creating API keys requires a Recurly role with the Integration permission. If you don't see Integrations → API Credentials or the Add Private API Key option, ask a Recurly admin to grant the permission or to create the key for you.
Evidence isn't appearing on disputes
Justt only enriches disputes for customers and transactions that exist in Recurly. One-off payments not processed through Recurly, or very recent records, may not have data to pull. Established subscribers should enrich automatically once connected.
The connection stopped working
If the API key was deleted, disabled, or rotated in Recurly, the connection will stop. Create a fresh private API key in your Recurly account and re-enter it in the Justt Hub.
